Mi Moto

10,415 miles on the clock when I bought it.
             2001 Kawasaki KLR650.

Speedometer didn't work.
Rear tire only held air for a couple hours.
Plastic side panels and tank fairings were originally green. Not sure what color the tank was before. Had no idea what the Japanese characters meant. Or if they were even Japanese. Looks like someone has beaten the hell out of it.

                           Perfect

for $950- USD

Bash guard and center stand were already on board but other than that the previous owner hadn't done much of anything. Kind of like how it was maintained.

I took it for a rip.

And then I ripped it apart.

That picture was early. I ended up doing or adding the following;
Valve adjustment- all 4 were right at the edge of tolerance
Timing chain measure and cam check
Balancing chain check
Balancing chain tensioner replace. That's the doohickey mod. Mine had the tension spring mashed and almost in half lying in the bottom of the left inner case cover.
The two left case gaskets and the gasket for the timing chain tensioner.
Timing chain tensioner reset.
Cleaned out the driving sprocket cover.
Cleaned and lubed and measured the chain.
New tube in the rear tire.
Welded the spark arrestor and exhaust and re seated.
new air filter and filter skin and airbox gasket.
new brake fluid. brake check.
new clutch cover/right case gasket.
new water pump gasket
new water pump seals oil/mech
oil change. it already had a reusable stainless mesh filter and the previous owner didn't even know it.
repacked all bearings.
went through all the electrical.
new tabbed front washer for the speedometer.
new clutch cable.
throttle cable lube
thorough carburetor clean/rebuild
new shock absorber
front fork rebuild including progressive springs and racetech cartridges
cramp buster on throttle
headlight guard
paris-dakar nerf bars
highway pegs
passenger pegs were missing so replaced those too
rear luggage racks from happy trails
rear pannier from happy trails
rear top plate with quick release and top box all from happy trails too
modified and moved rear turn signals and license plate for pannier system
seat cover
steering stem bearing was loose and made a huge knock when i got it
uhhh....

i'm sure there is more. I'll add as it comes back to me

Oh yeah! Can't forget all the stuff I got from Aaron Taylor. Plus the welding he did to my muffler. Really cool clamping box for my tools that got through bolted above the bash guard and the two tubes made for farm machines. One rides on the right nerf bars for maps and tp and such. The other is bolted inside the pannier racks on the port side for longer stuff like ratchet driver, extra spokes, zip ties, axel wrench, yada.
